Megan & Geordan's Elegant Spring Wedding at Secrets on the Lake, Montville

A magical midweek wedding filled with spring colours, beautiful details and an intimate garden party celebration.

Who says a small wedding can't be a luxurious experience?

Megan and Geordan's beautiful spring wedding at Secrets on the Lake, Montville, was proof that sometimes less really is more!

With just 17 of their nearest and dearest, this sweet, camera-shy couple created the most magical midweek wedding. Think gorgeous spring colours, romantic harp music, stunning rainforest surroundings and an elegant long-table lunch.

Every little detail was thoughtfully planned, and I absolutely loved their approach to celebrating. It wasn't about having the biggest wedding. It was about creating an unforgettable experience with the people they love.

Quality over quantity, and it was simply beautiful!

Getting Ready in the Treehouses at Secrets on the Lake

One of the things that makes Secrets on the Lake such a unique Sunshine Coast hinterland wedding venue is its beautiful treehouse accommodation.

Megan and Geordan got ready separately in two of the property's stunning treehouses, surrounded by the lush rainforest.

I loved being able to photograph both of them getting ready, capturing all those lovely little details, the anticipation and the excitement before their ceremony.

And because everything was happening on the property, there was no rushing between locations.

For couples planning a destination wedding in Montville, having accommodation and your wedding celebrations in one beautiful location makes the whole experience feel wonderfully relaxed.

A Romantic Rainforest Wedding Ceremony

One of my favourite moments to photograph at Secrets on the Lake is the arrival of the couple and their guests along the beautiful forest boardwalks.

There's something so magical about watching everyone make their way through the rainforest towards the ceremony.

For Megan and Geordan, the atmosphere was even more romantic with Hayley the Harpist playing beautiful, whimsical music.

With just 17 guests, their ceremony felt incredibly personal and intimate.

The gorgeous spring colours, natural rainforest setting and thoughtfully chosen details created such an elegant atmosphere.

It was one of those weddings where everything just felt right.

A Magical Garden Party Wedding Reception

Now, this is my kind of wedding celebration!

After the ceremony, Megan and Geordan celebrated with an elegant garden party reception, complete with a beautiful long-table lunch.

The Little Bar Cart provided the drinks service, adding a lovely touch to the relaxed garden party atmosphere.

There were garden games, beautiful styling and plenty of time for everyone to enjoy being together.

What I particularly loved was how personal the whole experience felt. With such a small guest list, Megan and Geordan could really spend quality time with every one of their guests.

And having the property to themselves made it feel like their own little rainforest paradise.

The guests had so much fun playing garden games, and during their long-table lunch, everyone got involved in a hilarious game of Heads and Tails! It was such a lovely way to bring everyone together, with plenty of laughter and those wonderful candid moments I love capturing.

Beautiful Couple Portraits Around Secrets on the Lake

Megan and Geordan are both a little camera-shy, which is something I completely understand. Not everyone loves having their photo taken!

My approach is always to make couples feel relaxed and comfortable, offering gentle guidance when needed while keeping everything natural.

After the ceremony, we wandered through the beautiful gardens at Secrets on the Lake for their couple portraits.

And here's where having an experienced local wedding photographer really makes a difference.

I've photographed so many weddings at Secrets on the Lake that I know the property like the back of my hand!

I know where to find the lovely light, beautiful backgrounds and those little hidden spots that make gorgeous photographs.

That meant we could capture a wonderful variety of portraits without keeping Megan and Geordan away from their guests for too long.

My photography tip: If you're planning an intimate wedding, you don't need to spend hours away from your guests getting photographs. A well-planned photography timeline and a photographer who knows your venue can make all the difference.

Why Megan & Geordan's Wedding Was Perfect for My Opulence Collection

Megan & Geordan's wedding album

Although Megan and Geordan chose to have a small wedding, they wanted their entire experience beautifully documented.

And that's what I love about my Opulence Wedding Photography Collection.

It's my comprehensive wedding photography collection, designed for couples who want their whole wedding story captured, from the anticipation of getting ready through to all the wonderful moments of their celebrations.

For Megan and Geordan, this meant documenting both of them getting ready in their treehouses, their rainforest ceremony, all those gorgeous spring details, relaxed couple portraits and the beautiful garden party reception.

Because sometimes it's the little moments that tell the biggest stories.

And just like all my standard wedding photography collections, Opulence includes a beautiful handmade wedding album.

I believe your wedding photographs deserve to be enjoyed beyond a digital gallery. Imagine sitting together years from now, turning the pages and reliving those magical moments in the rainforest with your favourite people.

That's why I love creating wedding albums that tell the story of your day, from beginning to end.
