Questions to Ask Your Photographer
If you’re searching for a Sunshine Coast Wedding Photographer, these are some of the most common questions to ask your photographer when planning your big day. I’ve answered them honestly and simply, so you can feel confident and relaxed from the very start.
1. How do we book you for our wedding?
Booking me is easy. Just head to my contact page and send through an enquiry, then we’ll jump on a chat to make sure we’re the right fit. Once your non refundable booking fee is paid and the contract is signed, your wedding date is officially locked in.
2. Do you offer engagement sessions?
Yes, I do. Engagement sessions are one of my favourite ways to help you feel relaxed in front of the camera and get used to how I work. They’re also perfect if you want some beautiful photos before the wedding. You can explore my engagement packages on my website.
3. How much coverage do we need for our wedding?
This is one of the biggest questions to ask your photographer, and the answer is different for every couple. I’ll help you choose the right amount of coverage based on your guest numbers, wedding party and what matters most to you. View my wedding photography packages here.
4. Do you travel for weddings?
Absolutely. I’m a Sunshine Coast Wedding Photographer, but I love travelling for weddings across Australia and beyond. If you’re planning a destination wedding, let’s chat.
5. Is there a travel fee?
One Sunshine Coast location is included in your package. If your day includes multiple locations or is outside the Sunshine Coast, a travel fee may apply. I’ll always be upfront and provide a custom quote if needed.
6. What happens if it rains on our wedding day?
No stress at all. Weather is one of the most common questions to ask your photographer, and I always plan for it. We’ll have a backup plan in place so you can relax. Rain can actually create some really romantic, beautiful photos, and I’m totally comfortable working in all conditions.
7. How many images do we receive and when will we get them?
You’ll receive around 80 to 100 images per hour, depending on your day and what’s happening. I’ll send you a sneak peek the following week, with your full gallery delivered within 4 to 6 weeks, or 6 to 8 weeks during peak season.
8. Do you offer wedding albums?
Yes, and this is one of my specialities. Your wedding photos deserve more than living on your phone. I create beautifully designed wedding albums so you can relive your day for years to come. You can view my album options on my website.
9. Can we provide a shot list?
I focus on natural, candid storytelling, but I always make sure the important moments are covered. If there are must have family photos or special requests, let me know. This is one of those questions to ask your photographer early so nothing gets missed.
10. What’s your photography style?
My style blends documentary storytelling with relaxed, natural portraits. I capture real emotions, meaningful moments and the little details that make your wedding yours. My editing is colourful and timeless, no heavy filters or trends that date quickly.
11. Do you guide us on posing?
Absolutely. Most of my couples tell me they’re awkward in front of the camera, and that’s totally normal. I gently guide you so everything feels natural and easy. No stiff poses, just genuine moments that feel like you. You can browse my galleries to see how this looks in real weddings.
Family Photography FAQs
Questions to Ask Your Photographer
If you’re looking for a Sunshine Coast Family Photographer, these are some of the most common questions to ask your photographer before booking a family session. My goal is to keep things easy, relaxed and actually enjoyable for everyone involved.
1. How do we book a family photography session?
Booking your family session is simple. Just fill out my contact form and let me know a little about your family and what you’re hoping for. Once we lock in a date and your booking fee is paid, you’re all set.
2. Where do family photo sessions take place?
I photograph most family sessions outdoors around the Sunshine Coast. Beaches, bushland and open spaces are my happy place. If you have a favourite spot or want location suggestions, I’ll help you choose somewhere that suits your family and the vibe you love. *Please note, locations outside of postcodes 4551 & 4575 incure a surcharge.
3. What’s the best time of day for family photos?
This is one of the most common questions to ask your photographer, and the short answer is, it depends on you. As a professional Sunshine Coast Family Photographer, I can photograph your family at any time of day and I always work around your schedule, especially when kids, naps and life are involved.
Golden hour is beautiful and when Mother Nature plays along the light is soft and dreamy. But I don’t control the sun or the weather, so if you’re set on golden hour, it’s important to know it doesn’t always show up. What I can promise is that I know how to find good light in any conditions and create natural, relaxed photos that feel like you, whatever time we shoot.
4. What should we wear for our family session?
I get asked this question all the time and I promise it doesn’t have to be stressful. Once you book, I’ll send you a super helpful styling guide that walks you through choosing outfits easily and with confidence.
I always suggest clothes that reflect your personality, not something that feels forced or too styled. It’s also worth thinking about your home decor. If you’re planning to hang your photos on the wall, choosing colours that coordinate with your space makes a huge difference. Simple tones photograph beautifully, and I recommend avoiding big logos or very bright colours so the focus stays on your connection, not your clothes.
5. What if my kids don’t behave or won’t smile?
You’re not alone. This is one of the most common questions to ask your photographer as a parent. I don’t expect kids to sit still or smile on cue. I let them be themselves and capture the real moments in between. Play, cuddles and connection always win.
6. Do you guide us on posing?
Yes, but gently. I’ll guide you into natural positions and movements so nothing feels awkward or forced. My approach is relaxed and playful, which helps kids and adults feel comfortable quickly.
7. How long does a family session go for?
Short & Sweet are 20 minutes & Kindred Collection is for 1 hour (extra time is allowed for over 5 people).
8. How many images do we receive and when will we get them?
Short & Sweet includes 3 images of your choice (you can upgrade to more if you wish) & Kindred Collection includes the ull collection. Your full gallery is delivered within 2 to 4 weeks.
9. Can extended family join our session?
Absolutely. Extended family sessions are very welcome and can be a beautiful way to capture different generations together. Let me know numbers when enquiring so I can recommend the best session option.
10. What’s your photography style for family sessions?
My style as a Sunshine Coast Family Photographer is natural, warm and storytelling focused. I capture genuine connection, laughter and those little in between moments that reflect your family just as you are. Colourful, timeless and never over posed.
11. What happens if the weather isn’t great?
If the weather doesn’t cooperate, we’ll reschedule. I keep a close eye on forecasts and will always communicate clearly so there’s no stress. Flexibility is part of the process and something I build into every family session. If we can’t reschedule we can choose a location out of the elements.
12. Do you offer prints and albums?
Yes! Your family photos deserve to be displayed, not just sit on a hard drive. I offer high-quality prints and albums to preserve your memories. You’ll find a print store in your gallery.
13. Can we bring our pets?
Of course! Furry family members are always welcome, just let me know so we can plan for them in the shoot.
14. How do we book a session?
Fill out my enquiry form, and we’ll find a time that works! A small deposit secures your session date.
