One of the Sunshine Coast's newest wedding venues is Weddings at Wildflower at the Best Western Plus Lake Kawana Hotel. Set beside Lake Kawana, in the new hospital precinct, this up and coming urban city is set to become the heartbeat of the Sunshine Coast. Their modern wedding venue is the perfect location for couples looking to celebrate their dream wedding by the water’s edge with a city feel. Food & Beverage and Events Manager, Kym Bell is my guest on today's blog.
Kym, how long have you been in the hospitality business?
The hotel has been open for 2.5 years and I've been in the industry for 29 years.
What do you love most about what you do?
I love helping Brides organise their special day and creating wonderful memories for them.
Do you have a goal you'd like to achieve this year in the wedding industry?
To be recognised for wonderful service and brilliant food. And that we exist in a beautiful location even if it isn’t beachside.
Is there something you've learnt, working at Best Western Plus Lake Kawana?
Being a more boutique venue we have been able to provide a more intimate atmosphere and so close to the hospital has given me the opportunity to work with many different guests.
How do you describe your work ethic?
Friendly, helpful, efficient and relaxed. I will go the extra mile to make my bride's stress free.
What is your specialty?
As a qualified home economist I know a lot about food and I love menu planning to ensure everything suits all guests and is balanced.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
I get constant inspiration from local suppliers who I spend time with and who wouldn’t love Pinterest.
What’s your best wedding planning tip?
Take good advice but also make it what you want it to be. If you have dreamt what it would be like then try and make it happen.
What’s your favourite wedding song?
Ed Sheeran “Perfect” . It is gorgeous.
When is your favourite time of year for weddings?
I love May and August as it is a bit cooler and the weather is generally safer on the Sunshine Coast.
What 3 words best describe you?
Loyal, hardworking and organised
Kym, where is your favourite beach on the Sunshine Coast?
I love Kings Beach, the view is great and you can get surf or walk a little further for no waves if you prefer.
Where is your favourite place on the Sunshine Coast?
Anywhere with a great wine list and a view.
Where is your favourite café on the Sunshine Coast?
I have so many but I do love CK wholefoods in Mooloolaba for the great menu selections. Rice Boi at The Wharf is certainly a new favourite. I crave to go there every week at least once.
Last one Kym, you’re a new addition to the crayon box. What colour would you be?
Red – passionate, strong willed and proactive.
Marry the one you love. Get hitched without a hitch. Together we’ll capture the heart and soul of your wedding day.
