Two friends with a passion for the wedding industry have combined forces to create The Stylist Collective, a hair and makeup boutique business. Kirstie and Rachel have over 25 years experience between them and bring a vibrant yet relaxed approach to your wedding day. Their aim is create gorgeous, modern and fresh looks for you and your bridal party.
Sunshine Coast make up artist Rachel Torr is my guest in today's blog.
Rachel, why did you start The Stylist Collective?
Kirstie and I decided to start this business together to offer brides a boutique service where they will only get us as their stylists on their wedding day and they are also able to book both services together.
What do you love most about working on weddings?
I love the atmosphere while a bridal party is getting ready all the excitement its contagious.
Can you remember what you first first wedding job was like?
It was exciting and nervous all at the same time (probably felt similar to the bride) but it all went smoothly.
What are you three top wedding tips for booking hair and makeup?
1. Outsource as much as you can, leaving lots of things for the bridal party to do on the wedding day creates a lot of stress.
2. Book your suppliers early so you don’t miss out.
3. Having a hair and makeup trial ensures you will feel confident with your chosen look for the day.
What was your wedding song?
Never Tear Us Apart by INXS. What can I say, I'm an 80's baby. I just love the words to this song.
When is your favourite time of year for weddings on the Sunshine Coast?
Winter for sure! The weather on the Coast is divine.
With only 3 words, describe yourself?
Relaxed, friendly and caring.
Where is your place on the Sunshine Coast?
Noosa, it's got everything, stunning beaches, great restaurants and good shopping. I love Bistro C, I can't go past a seafood dish and cocktail.
What is your favourite thing to do on the Sunshine Coast?
I love to go to a pilates class followed by a swim with my kids, these two things just make me feel happy and calm.
You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What colour would you be?
Something shiny rose gold, because its girly.
